Collection: Vuarnet
Vuarnet sunglasses can trace their origins to the invention of the Skilynx lens in 1957 by two French opticians: Roger Pouilloux and Joseph Hatchiguian. These sunglasses, designed specifically for high-strength protection against the intense glare and conditions of the French Alps, were originally marketed under the name Skilynx Acier and were provided to the French Olympic Ski Team.
After alpine ski racer, Jean Vuarnet won the gold medal in the Downhill at the 1960 Winter Olympics, an agreement was reached in 1961 to market the sunglasses using his surname as the brand name.
Since then, Vuarnet has established itself amongst the big hitters in the sunglasses world, specializing in making sunglasses that effortlessly blend hard-wearing ruggedness with high-fashion appeal. It’s safe to say that there aren’t many brands that come close. If you’re interested in some après-ski style that will also hold up on the slopes, there isn’t a brand more suited than Vuarnet!
