W’menswear is the brainchild of founder and designer Lauren Yates, who rose to prominence with her excellent blog Ponytail Journal. Since 2015, the brand's garments utilize regionally specific manufacturing methods and materials while challenging traditional modes of femininity. Every collection is inspired by great women and their rich stories throughout history. Hard-hitting garments for hard-hitting women.
NEW COLLECTION - “The Infinite Spinning Door”, was inspired by the first all-female climbing club - Joshi-Tohan Club, founded and led by Junko Tabei in Japan. The group consisted of housewives who took their passion for climbing to a place that society wasn’t ready for, despite discouragement by their male contemporaries. Despite an avalanche twelve days earlier, history was made on May 16, 1975, when Tabei and her Sherpa guide Ang Tsering reached the peak of Everest, where she became the first woman ever to do so. The silhouettes and unique prints from this collection champions these women and their determination of breaking boundaries, paying homage to this group of trailblazers. “Their achievements as a team were greater than scaling Mt. Everest itself” - Lauren Yates (founder of W’menswear)
